From the Pastor,
I have
always felt that the church cemeteries in some of our early churches
allowed a closeness between the pastor and the church community. Death
was not something that was seen as an inconvenience, but as a means
for the church to minister to families in a special way while honoring
the significance of the one who has passed from this life.
We live in an
age where a life lived is increasingly devalued. Proper memorialization
was important in the Bible times and remains important today. when Moses
died, God Himself chose to give him a proper burial. Joseph also gave
instructions that his bones should not be left in a foreign land, but
they should be buried with his people. The early church cemeteries were
a way to preserve the heritage of a generation passed in order to teach
the generation present.
I am excited
about bringing these ministries back to the church. Not only are we
able to offer a heartwarming environment to memorialize our loved ones,
but the church is able to provide structure, support, and information
for decisions faced at a time of death. Please contact the church office
to find out more about our memorial ministries.
